Project 1 - Poster

For our first project I was given to task of designing a poster that reflects the essence of my classmate, Holly Vadnais. Through our discussion in class I learned that Holly is very simple and laid back. She grew up in a small town and has always loved the outdoors and watching the world go on around her. She is a night person and her greatest hopes are to explore the world and learn from other cultures. It was this information that I based my design of this project on. The dark, starry background reflects her love for the night and the lush green foliage beneath her feet represents the nature that she is so fond of. Across the sky streams a group of footprints amongst a stream of clouds that is intended to represent her dreams of travel and exploration. Finally, the silhouette is bright and vibrant, like her personality, and contrasts sharply against the dark background. In this project I utilized Adobe Illustrator for the vector image of her silhouette as well as Photoshop painting and filter tools to create the rest of the elements. The final work was brought into InDesign for submittal.
